SGS: SGS has over their long and varied history become one of the consumer testing bodies that are held in the highest esteem. The company has been around for over 130 years and guarantees that consumer products tested by them have passed extremely stringent consumer safety, legality and quality control benchmarks. Their expert staff create and carry out thorough tests that include some of the strictest product appraisal guidelines, in depth factory inspections, rigorous product tests and shipping observation. They are also very concerned with the environment and so also make sure that all products submitted to their tests pass strict environmental regulations.
CE: The world famous conformité européenne, trade mark has become synonymous with quality products the world over owing to the very strict European standards that they go by. Products that bear the CE mark must first prove that they are in full conformity with all relevant EU directives and are in line with EU consumer safety regulations as well as environmental and safety legislation.
FCC: The FCC mark is to the North American market what the CE standard is to Europe. In the United States for a consumer electronics product to be allowed legally to be put on the market it must receive full approval from the independent U.S regulatory body that is the FCC. RoHS: The RoHS certificate is another European mark of approval. Products that bear the RoHS mark are in full compliance with the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive that has been in effect since 2006. This relatively new directive in now law in all European Union member states and prohibits the use in consumer electronic products of six hazardous materials associated with the production of certain electronic goods.
